Yudhistira Kazuhiro Budiono (Kazu), MA
Yudhistira Kazuhiro Budiono (Kazu) serves as the center director of SIT Study Abroad Indonesia and vice chairperson of Yayasan World Learning Indonesia. He is currently pursuing an EdD in Global Education at SIT Graduate Institute. His dissertation research turns to the Baduy of West Java, an Indigenous community that has sustained cultural resilience and ecological balance for centuries through external pressure.
He completed his master’s in philosophy at the University of Amsterdam, writing on consciousness and the pitfalls of the Cartesian mind–body divide, and his bachelor’s in philosophy at UC Berkeley, where he supported international students through cross-cultural mentoring.
Across roles in education, sustainability, and conservation, Kazu has been drawn to questions of how individuals and communities learn, adapt, and thrive. Born in Java, raised in Bali by Indonesian and Japanese parents, and educated in the West, he remains committed to lifelong learning.
