School for International Training builds its academics on the experiential learning cycle, which integrates concrete experience, objective observation, theory and analysis, and active experimentation. Students learn the latest scholarship in the classroom and then participate in hands-on learning and active problem solving.
Our faculty are also practitioners in their field. They have real-world experience that they bring into the classroom. Our students spend time in the field observing, interacting with stakeholders, and learning from multiple experts.
SIT Graduate Institute helps students develop skills they’ll need in their professional lives and gives them opportunities—through practicums and internship—to practice those skills. SIT Study Abroad provides immersive, field-based study abroad programs that give undergraduates the opportunity to gain a deep understanding of a critical global issue.
The learning our students do in the classroom is only the beginning. Our students take the skills they gain at SIT and continue the learning process in their own communities and in their personal, academic, and professional lives. This process is challenging, but the results are rewarding. Our alumni are knowledgeable and competent in their fields; work collaboratively with others and foster cooperation; and are committed to diversity, social justice, and responsible global citizenship.
