Ngawang Choegyal

Gen (“Teacher”) Ngawang Choegyal is from Shigatse, Tibet, where he completed his middle school. He studied Buddhist philosophy in Indian for four years at Sherab Gatsel Lobling School, continuing his studies in Buddhist philosophy at Thubten Choeling Monastery in the high mountains of Nepal. Gen Choegyal la also studied traditional Tibetan religious Thangka painting at Shechen monastery, Kathmandu. Besides working as a language teacher for SIT since 2013, Gen la has also been engaged as a principal Tibetan language instructor at the Centre for Buddhist studies at Rangjung Yeshe Institute for more than 10 years, where he also leads the Tibetan language translation program. During his free time, he likes to expand his understanding of Buddhist philosophy and pursue his passion for painting.
