Nazneen Zafar

Nazneen grew up in Pakistan and Canada and completed a B.Com at Government College of Commerce and Economics in Karachi. She began studying French at the Alliance Française de Karachi in 1980, before going on to complete diploma courses in pedagogy (FLE) and littérature et civilisation in Paris and Toulon, respectively. She moved to Nepal in 1990, where after short stints teaching French in Kathmandu, she decided to focus on writing, editing, and on “tagging along” with her late husband, Hubert Decleer, founding academic director of SIT Nepal: Tibetan & Himalayan Peoples. Thanks to Hubert and his students, Nazneen developed a deep interest in South Asian cultures and communities. Her collection Reading Together and Other Poems was published by erbacce-press in 2017.
