Mike Murphy, PhD

Dr. Mike Murphy is an expert in the structure and tectonics of Tibet and the Himalaya, having authored more than 40 research papers derived from 15 field expeditions to the region. As a committed educator in the field of geology at the University of Houston he has taught field geology to university-level students in the U.S. Rocky Mountain region for the past 23 years. Presently, he serves as the principal investigator for a multi-institutional project focused on understanding the distribution, frequency, and consequences of historical and future earthquakes in western Nepal.
