Michael Roberts, EdD candidate

Michael Roberts is a musician and international educator who holds an MA in international education from SIT Graduate Institute, a certificate in folk music performance from the Music and Dance Conservatory of Mongolia, and a BA in ethnomusicology. He began his international education career as a group leader of short-term programs in Mongolia and China, and also worked in communications and operations at SIT before joining the Office of the Provost. He serves as occasional lecturer and adjunct faculty in the SIT MA in International Education program, where he has taught courses on intercultural communication and program design. As a musician, he has performed throughout the U.S., including at the Newport Folk Festival and Carnegie Hall, and his original songs have been featured on National Public Radio.

Roberts is an EdD candidate at the University of Vermont, where his doctoral research utilizes qualitative sound methodologies to explore decolonial approaches to nature-based education. He is currently a visiting scholar at the Department of Development Studies at Makerere University in Kampala, where he is conducting research on the human-environmental interfaces in Entebbe, Uganda.
