Meredith McCormac, PhD
Dr. Meredith McCormac is a senior level organizational leader and international education professional, who most recently was Vice President of Organizational Growth and Learning at World Learning. Her organizational leadership experiences range across strategy development and execution, program/grant management, monitoring and evaluation, research design and implementation, and new business development/grant writing. Dr. McCormac has managed and provided technical assistance on large and complex programs that focus on education quality improvement, teacher professional development, youth leadership, and institutional strengthening in 16 countries globally, having lived and worked in Ethiopia, Pakistan, Jordan, Egypt, and South Africa. Dr. McCormac has research experience with a variety of institutions in multiple developing countries, including Ethiopia, where she was awarded a Fulbright grant to conduct her doctoral research. Her dissertation examined the development of early grade reading skills as a means for quality improvement in global education. The study included descriptive and inferential statistical analysis of Ethiopia’s baseline Early Grade Reading Assessment dataset and follow-up primary qualitative data collection and analysis in selected schools. Her ongoing research interests include the effects of home and community environments on student learning outcomes and the utilization of data for policy change. Dr. McCormac holds a Ph.D. in International Education Policy and a Doctoral Certificate in Measurement, Statistics and Evaluation from the University of Maryland, a M.A. in International Peace and Conflict Resolution from American University, and a B.A. in Religious Studies from the University of Oklahoma. She currently resides in Johannesburg, South Africa, with her husband and two young daughters.
