Marissa Hehir works with the Student Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Team helping students prepare to manage their health needs while abroad. She specializes in health assessment and wellness planning, working with students to identify ways to meet their needs in the context of their location(s) of travel and the nature of their program. With a wide range of wellness experience from working on ambulance and emergency department teams to meditation, dance, and teaching art classes, Hehir is passionate about bringing a holistic perspective to supporting student wellbeing. She holds a bachelor’s degree in integrative health and wellness and a TESOL certification from the University of Vermont. Hehir’s professional experience has been focused in the fields of healthcare, social work, and international education. She stays up to date by attending workshops and conferences on topics such as education abroad, travel medicine, global security, and risk management. She is an active PULSE member.

Hehir has studied abroad in London, worked and lived in New Zealand, has visited 14 countries so far, and has language competency in Korean. She strongly values travel and experiential learning. As such, she is happy to be in the position of fostering cross-cultural understanding and making the study abroad experience an accessible one.
