Kavita Gurung

Kavita Gurung is an education and development leader with more than a decade of building and directing community-based programs across Nepal at the intersection of education, health, and livelihood. With Himalayan origins from Manang, Gurung grew up in Kathmandu and has lived and worked across Bahrain, Austria, the United States, and the United Kingdom before taking on continuous leadership in education and development in Nepal. In 2013, she co-founded EduLift that spearheaded life-skills development through experiential, project-based learning to Himalayan and Tibetan youth in Kathmandu. She then served from 2018-2025 as program director for Amics del Nepal, Barcelona. While deeply committed to equity, human development, and transformative education, Gurung is also passionate about poetry and creative writing and has been published in poetry anthologies and independent online and print publications.
