Karl Rivera, MA
Karl is an Artist, Designer, and Producer. They hold an independently designed BA in Visual Sociology from Wheaton College, where they were a Posse Scholar. They also earned an MA in Sociology + Social Anthropology from the Central European University, where they were an Excellence Scholar and Paresky Fellow. Karl is an alum of IHP Cities, was a 2019-2020 Trustees Fellow with IHP Health + Community, and launched IHP Human Rights in Fall 2022 and Spring 2023.
Previously, they served as a Teaching Artist and Program Manager at DreamYard Project, an arts and social justice nonprofit in the Bronx. During this time, Karl also served as an adjunct lecturer at Monroe College, teaching a dual-enrollment Sociology 101 course for high school students. Currently, Karl works as a Strategist at the Center for Justice Innovation, where they prioritize harm reduction initiatives, grassroots capacity building, and policy reform across New York City.
