Joseph Oduro-Frimpong, PhD

Dr. Joseph Oduro-Frimpong is a scholar of African popular culture and a committed humanities teacher, focusing on African popular/public media, politics, society, and the arts. He is an American Council of Learned Societies/African Humanities Fellow. He has held postdoctoral fellowships at Rhodes University and at the University of Cape Town. Dr. Oduro-Frimpong currently directs the Centre for African Popular Culture at Ashesi University. His research appears in the volumes Popular Culture in Africa: The Episteme of Everyday Life; Taking African Cartoons Seriously: Politics, Satire, and Culture, as well as in respected journals, such as Journal of African Cultural Studies, International Journal of Communication, and African Studies Review.
