Jorge Valtierra Zamudio, PhD

Dr. Valtierra has a PhD in anthropology and an MA in social anthropology from Centro de Investigaciones y Estudios Superiores en Antropología Social (CIESAS, Mexico City). He received his BA in history at National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He has been chief editor of two scientific journals and has collaborated on knowledge dissemination projects with state agencies such as the Secretary of Inclusion of the State of Campeche in Mexico and the University Program for the Study of Cultural Diversity and Interculturality of UNAM. 

He is the author of several publications in indexed journals, books, and book chapters. In 2024, he co-authored with Felipe Gaytán Alcalá and Alessandra Huergo Cárdenas “Moralidades en espacios públicos,” published by Parmenia. He has also published book chapters such as Linguistic Imperialism, Native Speakerism, and Racism in the Teaching and Learning of English: The Case of Mexico (2024) and (De)colonial Multilingual/Multimodal Practices: Resisting and Re-Existing Voices from Latin America, both published by Routledge. Some of his latest publications can be found in “The Routledge Handbook of Multilingualism.”
