Ilya Malafei supports the academic design and delivery of all programs at SIT Amsterdam. Prior to joining SIT, Malafei taught cultural studies, philosophy, and qualitative research courses at University College Maastricht in the Netherlands. Born and raised in Belarus, Malafei’s research explores how marginalized bodies and communities push back against and reimagine dominant structures of time, memory, and power. Their graduate thesis brought this question into focus through the visual politics of the 2020-2021 protests in Belarus.
