Helen Nambalirwa Nkabal, PhD

Dr. Nkabala is a senior lecturer in the Department of Religion and Peace Studies, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, at Makerere University, where she is also a member of the Makerere University Council. She is experienced in conflict resolution and management, relationship-building and management, networking and interpersonal skills relevant for interacting with government institutions and other development partners, NGOs, and the private sector in multicultural settings. In addition to her work at Makerere, she has trained personnel at Auschwitz Institute for the Prevention of Genocide and the United Nations Mission in South Sudan in conflict transformation, social cohesion; and with Uganda police in peacebuilding, conflict transformation, and development. She has served as principal investigator on grants from U.S. Institute of Peace, UN Women, and MasterCard Foundation, among others. More recently, she was appointed inaugural director of the First Rotary Peace Center in Africa, hosted at Makerere University.
