Gillian came to SIT as a custom program manager in September 2021 and became assistant director of custom & signature programs in July 2024. An alum of SIT Study Abroad’s Fiji: Multiculturalism and Social Change program and SIT Graduate Institute’s MA in International Education, Gillian draws from her direct experience on SIT’s experiential learning programs to inform her work. Before joining SIT, Gillian served as the Global Engagement Specialist at Rhode Island School of Design, managing a diverse portfolio of faculty-led and semester-long programming. Previously, she worked in support of the U.S. Department of State J-1 Work & Travel USA program on the hiring events team at CIEE in Portland, Maine. Her career has also included work in education and exchange programming in the U.S., Czech Republic, Fiji, Nepal, and Switzerland, as a teacher, program leader, and coordinator of global programs.
On the custom programs team, Gillian manages a global portfolio that includes immersive custom and faculty-led programs and SIT’s signature programs, including the Professional Engagement Programs. She leads a team of custom program assistants based at program locations around the world. Originally from Rhode Island, Gillian is based in Burlington, Vermont.
