Andrea Bordeau, MSc and MA
As dean of Student Health, Safety, and Well-being, Andrea Bordeau brings more than a decade of experience in the field of international education and student support. Prior to joining SIT, she built and led the Office of Global Safety at Vanderbilt University and served in a similar role at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She has led international workshops on risk mitigation, crisis communication, and supporting student mental health and well-being. As the foundation for successful global engagement, Andrea advocates for a direct and holistic approach in supporting student travel.
Bordeau served as the inaugural president of Pulse: International Health and Safety Professionals in Higher Education, Inc. from 2018-2022. She has visited more than 85 countries and has competency in Arabic, Hebrew, Italian, and Spanish. She has participated in training with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the United States Foreign Service Institute, and serves on the steering committee for the Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC) through the U.S. Department of State. She completed her graduate work in the fields of Middle East history and security studies at Tel Aviv University in Israel and African Studies at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland.
