Abid Siraj, MSW

For two decades, Abid has been engaged in teaching, research, and program management in public health in India, where he is actively involved in health advocacy work. Abid holds a master’s degree in social work and is completing his PhD in social work with an emphasis in reproductive and child health. He has worked with several SIT programs to support the academic director and students’ Independent Study Projects. He coordinated IHP global comparative programs including Health and Community and Cities in the 21st Century. Before joining SIT, he worked for a USAID-funded project on the role of local self-government in the promotion of reproductive and child health, and coordinated the Community-Based Distribution Project of Family Planning Methods. He was part of a team pioneering a public health program for India’s National Rural Health Mission, and he was involved with UNICEF’s intensive immunization of pulse polio in Uttar Pradesh.
