SIT World Languages Center

The SIT World Languages Center is committed to promoting and preserving indigenous and less commonly taught languages while also providing critical, specialized courses in widely studied languages. The Center is an international community of language educators and learners, which offers high-quality, innovative language-learning opportunities through online and in-person experiential courses for college credit. We believe that linguistic and cultural diversity is crucial to our shared global future. SIT seeks to engage university students, high school students, and adult learners around the world in meaningful language study rooted in social justice and intercultural understanding.

Fall 2020 Online Courses
The following three-credit courses are being offered online from September 14 to November 15, 2020 and are taught by skilled SIT language teachers based around the world. SIT welcomes applications from all individuals for online language courses, including high school, undergraduate, and graduate students, and adult learners. Students will complete five contact hours per week during the nine-week course instruction period.

January Term 2021 Abroad
The following three-credit courses will be offered in-person abroad from December 28, 2020 to January 15, 2021. January Term (J-Term) courses are open to all undergraduate students in good academic standing. All individuals must meet stated prerequisites as indicated on the program page. Students enrolled in these experiential programs will engage in a wide range of field-based, learning activities designed to provide comprehensive intercultural understanding and practical language acquisition. Students will live with homestay families and participate in educational excursions in and around the host community.
