SIT is guided by values

Announcement Date: August 27, 2025   |   School for International Training

For more than 60 years, School for International Training, a nonprofit, accredited higher education institution, has remained true to its mission of educating students to address the most critical global issues in pursuit of a more sustainable, peaceful, and just world.

Since 1964, SIT has led the way in providing experiential, immersive, and socially conscious study abroad experiences that combine academic excellence with real-world engagement. Our practices and policies ensure that every participant, including first-generation and low-income students, can engage in transformative study abroad opportunities without hidden costs. We prioritize student safety and well-being, investing in cultural adjustment, accessibility, security, and academic accommodations so every participant feels supported, safe, and empowered. Our programs are designed to meet students’ evolving needs, offering “choose your own track” programs, minors, and flexible housing options. And last year alone, we awarded more than $1 million in scholarships and financial support to 400 students.

We are a global community of staff, faculty, supporters, students, and alumni who believe in the power of meaningful connections. We recognize that when we engage perspectives from people of different backgrounds, cultures, abilities, identities, and experiences, mutual respect and understanding emerge. Our commitment has always been to cultivate a learning environment where individual strengths are valued as vital contributions to the greater good.

At SIT, we are guided by our core values of community, intercultural understanding, social inclusion and justice, and sustainability—values that drive our work to foster learning for all.
