Sunggun Park, PhD
Dr. Sunggun Park is a political scientist specializing in international security and U.S. foreign policy. His research focuses on issues of great power competition, including the use of military force, nuclear deterrence, and intelligence activities. His current projects examine signaling dynamics in military intervention and great power subversive efforts. Dr. Park is also developing book projects on South Korean foreign policy for a broader Korean audience.
He has taught at George Washington University, the University of Virginia, and the Republic of Korea Air Force Academy. Having studied and taught in both South Korea and the United States, he brings a cross-national perspective to the study of security and foreign policy in East Asia. His professional networks across Korea’s academic and policy communities inform his engagement with contemporary policy issues on the Korean Peninsula.
Dr. Park holds a PhD in foreign affairs from the University of Virginia and received his bachelor’s and master’s in political science from Korea University. An avid tennis player, he is also a certified professional with the Racquet Sports Professionals Association.
