Lei’ātaualesā Gladys Alailima

Gladys gained her masters degree in Urban and Regional Planning and a baccalaureate degree in Tropical Agriculture from the University of Hawaii.  She is currently a part-time consultant on development and also works part time as the SIT homestay coordinator.  She has had a long and distinguished career in the UN and Peace Corps Volunteers as director, with NZAID and in the Pacific region as development consultant, and with the Samoan government in project management. She has extensive work experience in community-based development projects and is an ardent supporter of nonprofit organisations and the civil society movement.  She is committed to village development through her role as a matai (chief) in her village on the island of Manono Tai.
