SIT CRITICAL CONVERSATIONS

WEBINAR SERIES

School for International Training (SIT) programs are developed around a framework of the most Critical Global Issues of our time—challenges that transcend borders and touch every human on the planet. We have developed this framework so that the next generation of leaders has the expertise and intercultural understanding to engage all identities, perspectives, and cultures with respectful, enduring, and meaningful responses.

We are excited to announce the Spring 2021 SIT Critical Conversations Webinar Series, which builds on the series inaugurated this past fall and brings SIT’s global community back together in conversation on these important challenges. The semester-long series will once again feature our popular Perspectives from the Global South faculty lectures, as well as a variety of virtual events that will enable participants to immerse themselves in the SIT experience and hear directly from field experts and alumni. Whether you are a prospective student, an academic advisor, or a curious global citizen, we invite you to engage with our faculty, guest speakers, and alumni around the world as we confront our own assumptions and move these conversations forward.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

With over 40 webinars offered this spring, it may seem difficult to choose which events to attend. While we welcome you to join any and all sessions that spark your interest, we have some recommendations to get you started.

Are you a current or future college student interested in learning more about SIT Study Abroad? We recommend attending our Alumni Voices webinars to hear what life is like on an SIT program and where your program experience can take you. Looking to sample the SIT experience directly? Meet our Academic Directors and get a taste of the academic and cultural activities you’ll take part in on your program through our Experience SIT sessions. Feeling inspired to apply, but not sure what’s next? Attend an SIT Study Abroad Information Session and let our admissions counselors answer your questions.

Whether you are considering pursuing a graduate degree to study climate change or peacebuilding, global health or TESOL, we encourage you to attend our SIT Graduate Institute Information Sessions, which provide details on our graduate program offerings, unique program models, the admissions process, and more. Explore how an SIT graduate degree can advance your career through the Alumni Voices sessions, and dive even deeper with the Perspectives from the Global South faculty lectures, which showcase SIT’s academic leadership on topics from decoloniality and the future of democracy, to the geopolitics of water.

Whether you’re newly acquainted with our institution or you’ve worked with us for a long time, our Experience SIT sessions will help you best advise your students on the various opportunities available through SIT, and our Alumni Voices sessions will provide further insights into the SIT experience. We also invite you to join us for an invigorating discussion on study abroad during the COVID-19 era and other Contemporary Issues in International Education, and to observe SIT’s in-house expertise through the Perspectives from the Global South faculty lectures.

We encourage university professors, lecturers, or teachers of any grade level, to engage with our collaborative Perspectives from the Global South faculty lectures, which feature SIT professors and practitioners, as well as our institutional partners. We hope these presentations will pique your academic interests and inspire you to draw connections to your own research. We also welcome you to explore Contemporary Issues in International Education and invite you to take part in a workshop on identity, privilege, and power in study abroad.

We welcome all members of our alumni community to step back into your international experience through the Experience SIT sessions and Perspectives from the Global South faculty lectures. Or, explore how current events are changing study abroad today through Contemporary Issues in International Education. We hope these conversations will inspire you to reflect on the way your studies with SIT still impact you today. We also hope that you’ll stay connected with SIT into the future as a member of our global alumni network.

We welcome anyone from any part of the world with an interest in the work of SIT and World Learning Inc. to participate in any webinars offered during this series. We hope that these sessions will leave you feeling more informed about and connected to the Critical Global Issues we face today.
