Peru: Indigenous Peoples and Globalization
Program Overview
Engage with traditional and contemporary societies in Peru, a nation with one of the largest indigenous populations in the Americas. Explore complex identities that have been shaped by historical legacies, multiethnic realities, and profound social and economic disparities. Based in the sacred city of Cusco, students actively engage with community leaders, indigenous oralists, artisans, laborers, farmers, historians, linguists, policy makers, scholars and educators. Rural homestays with Quechua-speaking families and a trip into the Peruvian Amazon increase opportunities for cultural reflection.
