Homestays

The program includes two homestays: Dublin and Derry.

Dublin
Students live with homestay families in Dublin for six weeks. Through one-on-one discussions and by sharing daily life with host family members, students integrate into the local context. The homestay experience in Dublin contributes to a broader understanding of contemporary Irish society and culture.

Londonderry/Derry
A week-long family stay gives students the opportunity to experience the city as a member of the community and to understand the ongoing impact of history and politics. The city is located a few miles from the border, and many people have extended families living in the Irish Republic. SIT students are usually included in family gatherings and visits undertaken by their host families across the border.

Other accommodations on the program could include a peace and reconciliation center, college dorms, and hostels.
