Tuition: $7,090
The tuition fee covers the following program components:
  • Cost of all lecturers who instruct students in:
    • Brazil’s historical and contemporary struggle for social justice
    • How race, class, gender, and other factors position youth in Brazilian society
    • Soccer and the Brazilian imagination
    • The relationship between sports, national politics, and social justice, as well as the impact of sports events on local communities
    • A critical analysis of the World Cup games in Fortaleza
    • Portuguese Language Study
  • All educational excursions to locations such as a World Cup game, NGOs working with local youth, and a neighboring city
  • Health insurance throughout the entire program period
 
Room & Board: $1,710
The room and board fee covers the following program components:
  • All accommodations during the entire program period.
  • A homestay with a family in Fortaleza (6 weeks).
  • All meals for the entire program period. Meals are covered by SIT Study Abroad, directly or through a stipend, or through the homestay.

Students may choose to take advantage of frequent flyer or other airline awards available to them, which could significantly lower their travel costs.

Personal expenses during a semester abroad vary based on individual spending habits and budgets. While all meals and accommodations are covered in the room and board fee, incidentals and personal transportation costs differ depending on the non-program-related interests and pursuits of each student.
