Campus Visits

SIT Study Abroad University Relations Managers provide a convenient, central resource for advisors and faculty at colleges and universities. A University Relations Manager can visit your home campus to meet with students, administrators, and faculty, and they will also help coordinate visits by other SIT staff.

SIT Study Abroad staff always coordinate closely with study abroad offices to arrange visits that meet the needs and timing of your institution. Activities on your campus may include the following:

  • Attendance at study abroad fairs and/or informational meetings;
  • Pre-departure orientation for your SIT-bound students, in collaboration with your own orientation or as a separate activity; SIT staff may also be available to discuss field-based study abroad, homestays, safety and security, travel to less-common regions, reciprocity and other general study abroad issues with your students;
  • Individual advising for your students to answer questions about SIT programs and provide information about applications, enrollments, and scholarships;
  • Visits with faculty who serve as reference writers for students or who teach in a discipline related to SIT Study Abroad programs;
  • Meetings with staff and administrators around campus, to better facilitate any issues surrounding enrollment and participation;
  • Coordinate re-entry support and alumni events for returned SIT students, particularly with regard to undergraduate research and fieldwork

SIT staff have expertise in many areas. If your institution requires in-depth discussion regarding a particular program, region, language, curricular issue or health, safety and security information, we can often arrange a visit by a senior staff member with the appropriate background. On occasion we are able to have an Academic Director visit your campus. We encourage you to discuss any such ideas or needs with the University Relations Manager for your institution.
