People, Power, and Pragmatism: The Future of Development in Our Changing World

SIT Study Abroad is pleased to cosponsor People, Power, and Pragmatism: The Future of Development in Our Changing World with The Ford Family Program in Human Development Studies & Solidarity and the Center for Social Concerns of the University of Notre Dame. The conference will take place on Feb 26-27, 2010 on Notre Dame’s campus in Indiana.

In November 2008, SIT Study Abroad had the privilege to collaborate with the University of Notre Dame on the university’s first annual student research conference focused on human development entitled "Innovation in the Service of Human Dignity".  Thirty-three SIT alumni from 26 different institutions of higher education were selected by Notre Dame faculty to present their research at that conference, which also featured the participation of senior SIT Study Abroad faculty. This high level of participation illustrates the exceptional primary research being conducted at the undergraduate level by SIT Study Abroad students on critical global issues, particularly in the areas of human rights and human development.

Undergraduate and graduate students are invited to submit proposals for papers to be presented at the February 2010 conference. Only proposals received by Friday, October 16, 2009 will receive consideration.
