SIT's management degree program effectively prepares students to launch and manage nonprofits, NGOs, public and private sector organizations, social businesses, and entrepreneurial ventures around the globe.
Students examine management theory and practice while acquiring functional and general management skills, through coursework and guided learning. The program emphasizes individual understanding, realization of leadership potential, and responsible and ethical leadership in diverse and multicultural environments.
Graduates are prepared to lead domestic, international, and global organizations in ways that incorporate responsible and sustainable values, introduce modern management practices, and attract the human and financial resources necessary for success.
Program Focus
- SIT's MS in Management degree program focuses on the tactical and strategic knowledge and skills needed to launch and manage a successful global nonprofit or social business or contribute substantially to the continuing impact of existing organizations.
- The program emphasizes individual understanding and realization of leadership potential. Students are prepared to manage and lead ethically and responsibly in diverse and multicultural environments.
Degree Sequence:
On Campus
- Nine months: September–December (14 weeks) and January–May (16 weeks)
- Minimum 28 credits, maximum 36 credits
- On-campus coursework combines facilitated discussions, simulations, and other methods of highly experiential learning through which students acquire theoretical knowledge and professional competencies essential for their career development.
In The Field
- Reflective Practice Phase: 12 credits
- Following successful completion of on-campus coursework, students engage in at least six months of field practice within an organization of their choice that is relevant to their professional goals.
Capstone Paper and Seminar
- Students apply the knowledge and skills learned on campus through written documentation culminating in a focused capstone paper.
