This course examines collaboration and building community in the Caribbean context. Students will learn about appropriate leadership approaches for youth issues, gender issues, food security with limited resources, environment and development disaster management, and HIV/AIDS.
Students will use concepts such as MOUs, needs assessment, asset mapping, power and leadership analysis, collaboration evaluation, collaboration using large group methodologies, and collaborative leadership. The usage of these concepts will help participants become effective at building coalitions and communities.
Costs will be determined in the fall semester of 2013. All field courses start on the date as listed. Students must consider making appropriate travel plans to be present at the start of the course.
