Director, National Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies (New Zealand)
Kevin Clements, PhD, is currently the director of the National Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Otago in New Zealand. Dr. Clements comes to Otago from the University of Queensland, where he was a professor of peace and conflict studies and the director of the Australian Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies. From 1999 to 2003 he served as the secretary general of International Alert, and was director of the School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution at George Mason University from 1994 to 1999. Dr. Clements has been a regular consultant to a variety of organizations and individuals on disarmament, arms control, and conflict resolution. His publications on conflict transformation, peace building, preventative diplomacy, and sustainable development include From Right to Left in Development Theory; Peace, Culture and Society: Transnational Research Perspectives; Peace and Security in the Asia Pacific Region; and Building International Community.
