Brattleboro, Vermont is 120 miles northwest of Boston, 200 miles north of New York City, and 90 miles north of Hartford, Connecticut.  Brattleboro does not have its own airport but is serviced by bus, train, and limousine service from the regional airports.

Arriving by Air

Logan International Airport in Boston, Massachusetts, Bradley International Airport near Hartford, Connecticut and New York's Kennedy Airport are the closest to Brattleboro.  You may want to check websites or telephone your travel agent to confirm information before beginning your trip as fares and schedules can sometimes change. Bus service from all three airports to the SIT campus is available.

Arriving by Bus

Please check your local bus station for exact times as they vary somewhat depending on the time of the year you travel.  The bus station in Brattleboro is a mile from the school.  Please note there is no phone in the bus station to call a taxi, so, it is important to make arrangements for pick-up in advance. From Logan International Airport

Vermont Transit Lines provides a shuttle service from Logan Airport to South Station. Buses depart South Station for Brattleboro, VT daily. It is a three-hour trip. Contact Vermont Transit Lines for more information at 1.800.552.8737 or http://www.vermonttransit.com/.

From Bradley International Airport

From Kennedy Airport

Take an airport bus or subway to Port Authority Bus Station in Manhattan (42nd Street and 8th Avenue). There are several options for connections to Brattleboro.

Peter Pan Bus Lines depart Port Authority for Brattleboro, VT.  It is a five-hour trip. There is a 15-minute layover in Hartford, CT where a transition is made to get on Greyhound Bus Lines to arrive in Brattleboro, VT.

Peter Pan Bus Lines depart Port Authority for Springfield, MA.  It is a three-hour trip. Connects onto Vermont Transit Lines to Brattleboro, VT.

Greyhound Bus Lines depart Port Authority for Brattleboro, VT.  It is a six-hour trip. It is advised to contact Greyhound Bus Lines to determine fares.

Arriving by Train

The train station is located in downtown Brattleboro, about 3 miles from SIT.  Please note there is no phone in the train station to call a taxi, so, it is important to make arrangements for pick-up in advance.  See Brattleboro Taxi service below.

Thomas Transportation-Limousine service

Thomas Transportation runs a limousine service from both Logan and Bradley airports, and will bring you directly to campus.  Reservations are required 48 hours in advance.  Call 800.526.8143 (USA) or 603.352.5550 (out of the US).  MC / VISA / DISCOVER, traveler's checks, and cash are accepted. Note: If you reserve Thomas Transportation limousine service but do not use it, they will expect payment for this reservation. You must cancel your reservation to avoid a charge from them.

Brattleboro Taxi Service

Brattleboro Taxi is available to meet most trains and buses arriving in Brattleboro. The hours of operation are 6:00 a.m. to midnight, daily. Call 802.254.6446 for information.

Arriving by Car

From Hartford, CT (Bradley Airport), allow 1.5 hours.

Take Interstate 91 north toward Springfield, MA.  Stay on I-91 all the way north through Massachusetts and into Vermont. Follow directions In Vermont below.

From Boston, MA (Logan Airport), allow 3 hours.

Leaving Logan, drive through the tunnel and follow signs for Interstate 93 (Southeast Expressway).

On I-93, follow signs to Route 90, the Mass. Pike. (You might have to go south for one or two exits to pick up Route 90).  Take the Mass Pike through Boston and into Newton.  (There is a 50-cent toll).

Get off at the exit for Routes 95 & 128. This is a tollbooth off to the right of the main tollbooth for Route 90 west. (There is a 50-cent toll). Take Route 95 north toward NH and Maine.

Continue on to Route 2 west, toward Fitchburg. Don't go east toward Arlington.

Take Route 2 west to Greenfield, MA, then get on Interstate 91 going north to Vermont. Follow directions once in Vermont below.

From New York City, allow 5 hours.

Take the West Side highway out of the city which turns into Route 9A (also the Henry Hudson Parkway).

Follow the Henry Hudson Parkway to the Saw Mill Parkway, then to the Hutchinson Parkway, which turns into the Meritt Parkway once in Connecticut.

At the end of the Meritt Parkway, bear left. Merge with the traffic on Route 15.  Stay in the right lane, which is marked, "Exit Only for I-91 north."

Follow I-91 north through Connecticut, Massachusetts, and into Vermont.  Follow directions In Vermont below.

From New Jersey, allow 5.5 hours.

Follow I-95 north to I-91 north through Connecticut, Massachusetts, and into Vermont.

Driving Directions Within Vermont

Take Exit 3 off Interstate 91 in Vermont. Follow the exit ramp to a roundabout, take the first right out of the roundabout onto Putney Road (Route 5) south. Proceed southbound on Putney Road one quarter mile to Black Mountain Road (traffic light).

Turn right and follow road over I-91 overpass. After two rather sharp curves, Black Mountain Road bears to the left. You bear right onto Kipling Road, to the top of the hill. Turn left at first opportunity—Dickinson Road—and take first right onto Wallace Way.
